Essential Fuel and Driving Safety Tips

Safety is at the heart of everything we do at Essence Energy. Fuel is a valuable resource, but it must be handled with care. Whether you are at the pump or on the road, these simple safety practices help protect lives and property.

At the Fuel Station

• Switch off your engine before refuelling.
• No smoking, no naked flames, and no phone calls at the pump.
• Never re-enter your vehicle while fuelling — static electricity can be a hazard.
• Do not overfill the tank; stop when the pump clicks off.
• Keep children and pets inside the vehicle during refuelling.
• Use only approved containers when buying fuel to carry away.

Handling Fuel Safely

Petrol and diesel vapours are flammable. Always store fuel in properly sealed, approved containers away from living areas and out of direct sunlight. If fuel spills on your skin or clothing, wash it off immediately and move away from any ignition source.

On the Road

• Always wear your seatbelt — and make sure passengers do too.
• Observe speed limits and keep a safe following distance.
• Never drive under the influence of alcohol or when fatigued.
• Check your lights, brakes, and tyres before long journeys.
• Keep a safe emergency kit: warning triangle, first-aid box, and spare tyre.
• Avoid using your phone while driving.
